Shangri-La Singapore and The TENG Company Present Singapore’s First Immersive Lie-Down Wellness Concert: 《五行 Wuxing, The Five Elements》

A transformative sound and wellness experience in celebration of SG60

Singapore, 5 August 2025 – In celebration of Singapore’s 60th birthday, Shangri-La Singapore and The TENG Company proudly unveil a pioneering cultural-wellness collaboration: 《五行 Wuxing, The Five Elements》, Singapore’s first immersive lie-down concert experience. The event will take place at the elegant Island Ballroom, Shangri-La Singapore, with two exclusive sessions at 10am and 2pm on Sunday, 28 September 2025. Tickets to this event are also eligible for purchase with SG Culture Pass credits starting 1 September 2025.

Rejuvenate your mind and body through this 45-minute, first-of-its-kind experience that fuses traditional Chinese music therapy, contemporary sound design, and mindfulness practices. Featuring The TENG Ensemble— an award-winning homegrown ensemble known for their mastery in blending Eastern and Western sonic influences — and supported by Shangri-La Singapore, 《五行 Wuxing, The Five Elements》invites guests to embark on a transformative inward journey through sound, stillness, and guided meditation.

In this unique lie-down concert format, participants recline on yoga mats in a tranquil, purposefully designed space, surrounded by live musicians positioned in an octagonal Ba Gua (八卦)  configuration. This arrangement, rooted in Chinese cosmology, transforms the concert into a full-body listening experience, where music flows from all directions to awaken the senses and calm the mind. Through a seamless blend of traditional Chinese instruments such as the guzheng, pipa, and dizi with monaural beats known to promote deep relaxation and stress relief, 《五行 Wuxing, The Five Elements》 is more than a performance — it is a modern ritual of restoration and resonance.

Guided by Evelyn Lee, a registered music therapist and founder of Prospect Music Therapy, the journey pairs original compositions with nature-inspired visualisations, breathwork prompts, and a thoughtfully crafted narrative arc based on the five elements — Earth, Wood, Fire, Water, and Metal. Each movement is designed to gently guide audiences from tension to stillness, creating a deeply meditative and nourishing experience.

“We are honoured to partner with Shangri-La on a transformative wellness experience that fuses ancient Chinese music therapy with the science of monaural beats. In this immersive concert, TENG musicians will perform live as audiences are gently guided through a meditative journey by certified music therapist Evelyn Lee. This is not just a performance — it’s a sound healing encounter designed to restore balance, deepen mindfulness, and awaken the senses,” Dr. Samuel Wong, Co-Founder and Creative Director of The TENG Company.

“At Shangri-La Singapore, we believe that wellness is a journey that encompasses the body, mind, and soul. We are delighted to collaborate with The TENG Company on a unique experience that beautifully bridges Singapore’s rich cultural heritage with innovative approaches to wellbeing. It is our privilege to host this meaningful event as part of our SG60 celebrations,” added Stephan Kapek, Vice President Operations and General Manager, Shangri-La Singapore.

《五行 Wuxing, The Five Elements》 is the first concert of its kind in Singapore to merge therapeutic soundscapes with immersive staging — honouring both Singapore’s deep-rooted cultural traditions and its evolving landscape in wellness and design. It also underscores Shangri-La’s ongoing commitment to supporting local talent and creating memorable cultural experiences for guests.
