TENG x COPE

COPE is a series of beautifully illustrated not-for-profit books, aimed to increase the disaster resilience of children. Covering natural hazards ranging from floods to earthquakes, wildfires to cyclones, the books provide coping tools, preparedness, and relatable stories in an imaginative and easy-to-understand way.

The “Disaster Book Series” is a series of 10 children’s books written by Martha Keswick (children’s book author), Dr. Timothy Sim (Associate Professor at SUSS, Ph.D. in Family Studies), and illustrated by Mariko Jesse. In partnership with UNICEF, the books teach children about natural disasters around the world.

The books provide coping tools and relatable stories to educate children from all over the world in disaster risk reduction, so that they can be prepared and take action in emergency situations. The series is currently being distributed in print and online copies (via COPE’s website and UNICEF Learning Passport).

TENG is currently turning the books into animated media with catchy jingles that help children remember the books' contents in other ways. These works are created in partnership with the COPE team and will also be distributed via UNICEF's Learning Passport and various other channels.

The project is yet another example of TENG pushing the boundaries of what music can do to help society, and it has received the generous support of Goldman Sachs Gives and a private foundation.

We are, however, still in need of more funding support to reach completion. To find out more about how you can support the creation of these animations and jingles, please contact partnerships@thetengcompany.com.
