TENG x COPE
COPE is a series of beautifully illustrated not-for-profit books written by Martha Keswick, Dr. Timothy Sim, and illustrated by Mariko Jesse. The books aim to increase the disaster resilience of children. Covering natural hazards ranging from floods to earthquakes, wildfires to cyclones, and also the important topic of climate change, the books provide coping tools, preparedness, and relatable stories in an imaginative and easy-to-understand way. In partnership with UNICEF, the COPE series teaches children about natural disasters around the world.
The books provide coping tools and relatable stories to educate children from all over the world in disaster risk reduction, so that they can be prepared and take action in emergency situations. The series is currently being distributed in print and online copies (via COPE’s website and UNICEF Learning Passport).
TENG is currently turning the books into animated media with catchy jingles that help children remember the books' contents in other ways. These works are created in partnership with the COPE team and will also be distributed via UNICEF's Learning Passport and various other channels. Since the start of the project, TENG, in-collaboration with COPE, have released animations for Heatwaves and Floods across various platforms, ensuring that these vital educational resources reach and engage young audiences worldwide.
Both the books and jingles are also available on the Singapore University of Social Sciences’ (SUSS) interactive learning platform SUSS UniLEARN as part of a partnership between COPE Disaster Champions and SUSS, expanding the reach of disaster preparedness for children around the world.
The project is yet another example of TENG pushing the boundaries of what music can do to help society, and it has received the generous support of the following individuals and organisations:
The jingles have now reached completion.
