Mapletree and TENG announce eighth scholarship to support next generation of Chinese musicians
Singapore, 1 December 2025 – Mapletree Investments (“Mapletree” or “the Group”) and The TENG Company (“TENG”) are pleased to announce the opening of applications for the Mapletree-TENG Scholarship, which supports and empowers aspiring Singaporean Chinese musicians. For the eighth consecutive year, Mapletree extends its ongoing support to help young talents from less-privileged backgrounds pursue their passion for Chinese music. Applications are open from 1 December 2025 to 28 February 2026.
The Mapletree-TENG Scholarship aims to nurture young Chinese musicians in Singapore by providing comprehensive one-to-one lessons, mentorship and performance opportunities to its recipients. Recognising that the journey of music education can be financially demanding, this scholarship plays a pivotal role in making Chinese music education more accessible. Five placements will be offered this year, each funded at S$11,000 and tenable for two years.
To date, 32 recipients have benefitted from the Mapletree-TENG Scholarship. Past scholars have gone on to achieve outstanding results in prestigious competitions, including the Singapore Chinese Music Competition. In the 2024 edition, four scholars – Li Zhixin, Claudia Xie, Preston Ang and Ee Anzhi – were placed within the top three of their individual categories. Scholars Yang Lin Xuan and Ang De Jin also reached the finals in their categories within the same year.

“The scholarship has provided me with opportunities to have regular lessons and consistent guidance, allowing me to explore more challenging repertoires. This has helped me to build confidence in my playing and encouraged me to develop my own unique style and interpretation,” said Yang Lin Xuan, recipient of the 2024 Mapletree-TENG Scholarship.
In addition to covering music lesson fees, the scholarship also supports course materials and examination fees. Applications close on 28 February 2026, and shortlisted candidates will be notified of their interview and audition date by 9 March 2026.
