Music For Comfort

Music for Comfort is a pioneering album by The TENG Company, created in collaboration with Direct Funeral Services and supported by research from the Singapore Institute of Technology. Conceived at the intersection of art, science, and compassionate care, it is the world’s first music album to integrate 40Hz monaural beats into original Chinese instrumental compositions for grief support. Rooted in TENG’s belief that music is more than entertainment, the project explores how sound can serve as a meaningful tool for emotional healing.

Developed over a year of research and collaboration, the album was designed to support individuals navigating bereavement and emotional difficulty. Each track embeds monaural beats shown in research contexts to help regulate emotional responses, reduce anxiety, and enhance cognitive control in grief-related situations. The compositions are thoughtfully paced and created in consultation with music therapists, offering listeners space to reflect, remember, and gently process their emotions.

The music from Music for Comfort serves as a companion for anyone experiencing loss – whether through illness, separation, major life transitions, or other personal challenges. By blending expressive artistry with evidence-informed sound design, the album provides calm, clarity, and a sense of grounding during life’s most vulnerable moments.

The Music for Comfort project has also been shortlisted as a finalist under the category of “Innovation of the Year - End of Life” in the 14th Eldercare Innovation Awards as part of the 2026 World Ageing Festival.
