Lee Tsu Hock

Born in Singapore, Lee Tsu Hock was awarded a scholarship to study music at the Royal Academy of Music, London and graduated with the Professional Certificate in Performing (Double Bass) in 1982 and the Licentiate in Teaching in 1983. In 1994, he was also awarded An Honorary Associate of Royal Academy of Music.
He was a full-time musician with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) from 1982 to 2002 and has performed in Singapore, Europe and many countries in Asia.
Lee was appointed the Double Bass Tutor of the Singapore National Youth Orchestra (SNYO) since 1983. He was the tutor of many secondary schools, junior colleges and universities, these included University of Singapore, Dunman High School, Chinese High School, Tanjong Katong Girl’s School and St Margaret’s Secondary School.
He was also one of the founding members of the International Chinese Culture Exchange Federation.
In 2004, he founded the ‘Camerata Singapore’, a professional chamber group that brings together many professional performers and puts up many music performances of high standards.
In 2006, Lee was appointed Assessor for the Chinese Music Performance by Thames Valley University (London) and London College of Music Examination Department. He was also invited to form the Radin Mas String Orchestra in the same year and has served as the Orchestra Director and Conductor ever since.
At present, Lee is the Special Assistant to President of The Musicians Society of Singapore, Director of the Society’s Symphony Orchestra Committee and the Conductor of the Symphony Orchestra.
He is also the Resident Conductor of Emmanuel Symphony Orchestra and the Principal Double Bassist of the Singapore Lyric Opera.
